Liu Liyun was born in 1974 in Inner Mongolia, China. She graduated BFA from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China and MFA from the Kent Institute of Art and Design, England. She has had two solo exhibitions, “Disappearing” (Gallery Albrecht, Munich, Germany, 2006) and “Material Life” (Passage Gallery of Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China, 2001). She has participated in various group exhibitions including “Disappearing” (Gallery 99, Germany, 2006), “The Documental Exhibition of China Contemporary Art” (Art Museum of the China Millennium Monument, China, 2006), “Chinese Contemporary Art Triennial” (Nanjing Museum, China, 2005), “Chengdu Biennale” (Chengdu Modern Art Museum, Sichuan, China, 2005), “Beijing Biennale” (National Art Museum of China, Beijing, China, 2005), “Extremely Water and Ink” (Today Museum, China, 2005), “Declaration—Contemporary Women Artist’ Exhibition” (Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art, China, 2004), “The 4th International Water and Ink Biennial of Shenzhen” (Shenzhen Art Museum, China, 2004), “Temperature—Invitational Exhibition of Chinese Contemporary Art” (North Djursland Museum of Denmark, 2004) and “Winds of Artist in Residence” (Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Japan, 2003).
