Yu Fan was born in 1966 in Tsingtao, Shandong Province, China. He is a graduate of both the Shandong Art Institute and the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China. He is currently Vice-Professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He has had two solo exhibitions “I Live at 2208, Where Do You Live? Yu Fan Sculpture Exhibition” (Passage Gallery of Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China, 2000) and “Between Inside and Outside, Yu Fan Sculpture Exhibition” (Passage Gallery of Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China, 1996). He has exhibited in various group exhibitions including “Under the Radar” (Robischon Gallery, Denver, USA, 2006), “Beyond Experience: New China” (Arario Beijing,Beijing, China, 2006), “Re-excavate: The Contemporary Realism” (Soka Contemporary Space, Beijing, China, 2006), “Second Beijing International Art Biennale” (National Art Museum of China, Beijing, 2005), “In and Out or In-between: N Kinds of Space Displacement” (Soka Contemporary Space, Beijing, 2005), “Between Past and Future - New Photography and Video from China” (International Photography Center, Asia Society and Museum, New York, USA, 2004), “The1st Beijing International Art Biennale” (National Art Museum of China, Beijing, China, 2003), “The First Guangzhou Triennial” (Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangzhou, China, 2002) and “The First Chengdu Biennial” (Chengdu Modern Art Museum, Chengdu, Sichuan, China, 2001).
